SACRAMENTO, CA - Cars definitely are the stars at the 2012 Sacramento International Auto Show.
This year's show November 11-13 at Cal Expo will feature hundreds of the brand new 2012 and 2013 cars equipped with latest in cutting-edge automotive technology. That new product will be interspersed with vehicles spanning over a hundred and ten years of the automotive industry. Throw in five on-site Ride and Drives and two kid zones and the Sac Auto Show has something for everyone.
"Keeping the Auto Show diverse has been a big key to its continued growth," stated show producer Stacey Castle of Castle Communications, Inc. in Gold River. "Not everyone is in the market for a new car so we make sure to keep the show diverse and appealing to all ages."
Show-goers can not only see cars up to 2013 year models, but also dating back to the early 1900‟s. "Over a century of cars are on view at the Sacramento International Auto Show.
While the focus of course is on the 2012-2013 product, cars that show the entire history of the automobile provide an amazing backdrop to define where the industry has been," continued Castle.
Besides keeping a focus on the historical perspective Castle added that "retro" car design seems to be gaining momentum. "Retro seems to be big this year," said Castle. "Many of the truly iconoclastic vehicles we have known over the last 50 years have been redefined in designs that pay homage to their origins, or even reintroductions, and I think the show goers will enjoy what they see."
One of those especially-anticipated redesigns is on the Volkswagen Beetle. The 2012 is touting an aggressive in-your-face redesign that still is amazingly true to the car‟s original look. These new 2012s looked beefed up and almost steroidal next to their "daintier" predecessors with the bud vase kicked to the curb as well.
A car that's been absent for over 36 years is back in the United States. Think Italian, think retro and think Fiat. The company that now owns Chrysler has jumped back into the US market and is introducing several snazzy models led by the Fiat 500. The reintroduction of this line provides a welcome addition into the subcompact market.
The U.S. automakers have been getting into retros in a big way in the past few years. Ford redesigned the Mustang to take it closer to its original look as did Dodge with the much anticipated Charger and Challenger reintroductions. With this the 45th birthday of the Chevrolet Camaro, this classic design pays close homage to the car‟s original pedigree.
Also at the Sacramento International Auto is one of the most recent additions to the electric car market, the Fisker. This absolutely drop-dead, sexy, incredible performing all-electric vehicle will make you go weak in the knees and is truly cutting-edge in every respect.
In a nod to the future of the automobile, the 2013 Taurus SHO is previewing in the Ford display. This car has gotten some incredible changes for the official model release sell date which is March of next year.
Getting behind the wheel has never been so easy at the Sac Auto Show. Five on-site ride and drive courses will be open during daylight hours featuring over 30 vehicles from Chrysler, Ford, Lincoln, and Toyota. A new twist on ride and drives is the Ford Focus Laser Target Hunt, a unique blend of a test drive and real-life video game.
