SACRAMENTO, CA -- A multi-vehicle crash shut down the southbound lanes of Interstate 5 at Richards Boulevard for almost an hour Wednesday morning.
The accident occurred around 9:15 a.m. and involved at least five cars, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The CHP told News10's Melissa Crowley minor injuries were reported. Two people complaining of pain were transported to the hospital.
Neither officials nor drivers were certain of what caused the pile-up. Richards Boulevard was apparently backed up with traffic and officers speculate a motorist may have come upon the scene driving too quickly.
The investigation is continuing.
The freeway reopened to traffic around 10:10 a.m.
