SACRAMENTO, CA - A pit bull puppy that was rescued after it got trapped under its owner's truck will be returned to its owner.
On Friday, the puppy was found tethered to his owner's truck bed by a rope that was attached to a chain. When the truck started moving, the puppy jumped out and was trapped under it. The driver stopped and witnesses were able to cut the puppy free.

When one of the witnesses mentioned calling the police, the owner drove away from the scene. The puppy was taken to the Chako Pit Bull Rescue in Sacramento for treatment for his injuries. The group said Monday it was looking for a home to adopt that would adopt the 4-month-old puppy.
However, on Tuesday night, Rescue Director Dawn Capp said the City of Sacramento asked to get possession of the puppy. On Wednesday, the city intends to give him back to the owners, Capp said.
