Week 1: News10 Game of the Week - Nevada Union 37, Grant 7 | News

SACRAMENTO, CA - The Nevada Union Minors defeated the Grant Pacers, 37-7 for the News10 Game of the Week matchup. 

The two schools were renewing their storied rivalry in their first matchup since 2005.

Senior quarterback Kyle Cota led the Miners by eating the short-handed Pacers defense alive by tossing four touchdown passes and 177 yards.

Grant was missing top linebackers with injuries to Jonah Toma, Tui Lopa and Moses Moala.

The Pacers were led by Marquise Carter-Petit who rushed for 136 yards.

Next Friday, the Miners (1-1) will host the Pleasant Grove Eagles (1-1), who fell in Stockton to the Lincoln Trojans 34-27 on Friday. 

As for the Pacers (1-1), they will look to rebound next week when they face the Burbank Titans.
