News

SACRAMENTO, CA - A 2-year-old was released from an area hospital after being found unresponsive in a swimming pool Wednesday evening, according to Sacramento police.

The near drowning happened at the River Walk Villas  apartment complex on the 600 block of Garden Highway.

A neighbor pulled the child from the pool and performed CPR until emergency crews arrived, said Sgt. Andrew Pettit.

Witnesses told police the victim's mother, Choonhwa Lee, was talking on the phone in the parking lot when the incident happened. The 2-year-old boy and his 4-year-old brother were left unattended at the pool, police said.

Lee was arrested on suspicion of child endangerment.
