Center for Sacramento History Presents Speaker Series -- Mining California: An Ecological History

Center for Sacramento History Presents Speaker Series -- Mining California: An Ecological History

The Center for Sacramento History is proud to present a special Speaker Series event -- Mining California: An Ecological History on Wednesday evening, July 16.

The community is invited to attend this thought-provoking presentation by historian and Temple University Professor Andrew C. Isenberg, who will address the systematic exploitation of the Golden State’s natural resources. The rapid industrialization of logging, ranching, farming, mining and urbanization burdened the state’s primitive environment. Isenberg will cover how California’s environment was never submissive and how nature proved to be capricious and maddening to those engaged in turning it into wealth.  At the conclusion of his presentation, Isenberg will answer questions and sign copies of his book, Mining California: An Ecological History (available for purchase that evening).
