Crime

SACRAMENTO, CA - There was an attempted abduction of two elementary school students in Natomas Thursday morning, according to school authorities.

In an automated phone message to parents, Bobbie Plough, Natomas Unified School District Superintendent, said the students were walking near River Terrace Apartments on the 2500 block of Millcreek Drive on their way to Bannon Creek Elementary School when they were approached by a stranger. The kids told school personnel the man gestured for them to get in his car but they ran away.

Plough said Sacramento police had issued an alert for a black man with a goatee, a chipped tooth, a gold tooth and short hair. He wore a gray short-sleeve shirt. The car he was driving was dark gray with its back windows tinted.

The school district reminded to have students walk together to and from school and report any suspicious encounters.
