SACRAMENTO, CA - Sacramento Police say a five car crash in Natomas Wednesday evening is connected with a shooting homicide that happened minutes earlier in Del Paso Heights, .

Sgt. Norm Leong said shooting a shooting was reported on Carmel Avenue near Rio Linda Boulevard about 4:30 p.m. A man was shot to death, and the car he was driving slammed into a house.

Police saw a black Ford Explorer matching the description of the car that left the scene of the shooting and tried to pull it over.  The driver didn't stop.

Police chased the vehicle along Del Paso Road, with speeds reaching 60 miles per hour. Leong said the chase ended when the SUV tried to make a right turn on Natomas Boulevard and slammed into four other cars at the busy intersection.

Leong said no one was seriously injured, though at least one was taken to the hospital.

Police found a gun connected to the black Ford Explorer; even though the passengers tried to keep it from being found.

"There was a gun that was seen tossed on the path that the Ford Explorer had possibly traveled," said Leong. "That gun has been recovered."  Arrested were 21 year old Jesse Cornejo, and 2 boys under the age of 18.

Leong added that some people involved, either in the shooting or the pursuit, are believed to have gang affiliations.
