Feds move in to shut down marijuana dispensaries

SACRAMENTO, CA - Another week, another shutdown. Medizen medical marijuana dispensary on Northgate Boulevard in Sacramento was shut down early Monday morning. It is a city-licensed business, but that hasn't stopped the feds from moving in.

Several weeks ago, federal prosecutors in California announced they plan on cracking down on medical marijuana dispensaries. Even though medical marijuana is legal in this state, it's still considered an illegal drug by the federal government.

DEA agents began clearing out the Medizen dispensary even before it opened for business Monday. Agents also raided Central Valley Caregivers Co-operative in Stockton about the same time.

A Medizen employee told News10 that his his manager and landlord were never notified by letter or by the federal government. The business was forced to shut down without warning.

One Body, Two Worlds by Natachi Mez

One Body, Two Worlds by Natachi Mez

I’ve never really walked through the mind of someone other than myself. I’ve attempted it, but then again, how could I be accurate? I don’t know what makes me different from every other girl in the world, but I know the factors that multiply to equal me.

I remember, when I was a lot younger, I wanted a more common name. How many people do you know with the name “Natachi?” I wanted the straight, flowing hair. I wanted the hourglass. As I continue to evolve into a young lady, I embrace my culture. I love my name, which means “from god.” I embrace my hair, and I appreciate everything I have because without them, who would I be?

It’s funny sometimes, looking back. Thinking of all of the ridiculous things that ran through my mind and straight out of my mouth.

WTH?!?! (that's...what the heck:)

WTH?!?! (that's...what the heck:)

What is growing on my tree??

Pee Wee Cheer Team honors Breast Cancer Awareness Month

Pee Wee Cheer Team honors Breast Cancer Awareness Month

The Inderkum Jr. Tigers league is doing all they can to show support to breast cancer survivors. The league has participated in donating $10 a player to the Susan G. Komen fund for breast cancer research. They also wanted to honor the survivors by sporting the iconic pink. At their last home football game at Inderkum High School, the football players wore pink socks, pink shoelaces and had pink ribbon decals on their helmets.

The cheer team also sported pink shoelaces, pink bows in their hair, pink breast cancer ribbons and pink pom poms. Along with their pink fashion statements, they also are hosting a "pink" bake sale at every October home game, with the proceeds going to the Susan G. Komen fund.
